Re: NS Peavine talk
Rather difficult! NS isn't going to sell any signals off the Peavine. If and when the scrap the line you may be able to get something from the scrapers.

Re: NS Peavine talk
Thanks pal! I figured you were joking as the only way one would be selling signals on the Peavine would be if that person illegally took it off the line and try to sell it. All the signals on the line still belong to NS.

Re: Toledo - bridge over NS featuring MDH
What is wrong with just keeping the walking bridge. To knock it down NS is going to spend some big money when in turn they can fix the bridges that need to be repaired and painted in Toledo. Just shows you where the powers of NS have their head.

Re: NS Peavine talk
There is no timetable set for removal of the tracks out east. I would think they will start in the spring. Since the rail belongs to NS would think they would be the contact. That part of the line has not been sold to the state or any county so they should be in charge of taking out the line or subc...

Re: NS Peavine talk
Midland for someone who knows all about the I&O you even know what is going on with the CCET. You're correct about the new people in charge of the CCET they have some ideas and are getting to know and work the Peavine to establish more potential customers. The counties along the lines need to seek m...

Re: NS Peavine talk
The latest information I have on the Peavine as of 1/26 is the far east end of the Peavine the Vera bridge and anything past the 80 mile marker east will be officially terminated. There will be no more rail operations on that side of the Peavine. I did receive this information from a creditable sour...

Re: Flour Mill Willard
Looks like they will need to build a rail there to connect to the CSX rail or maybe they are going to haul by truck. Looks like to put a rail in there will be rather expensive and not a short rail at that to make the connection

Re: NS Peavine talk
I thought Midland Sub would have the answer and a darn good one at that. The east section of the Peavine is dead and won't come back to life in the future. It costs too much money to have the bridge a Vera replaced or even fixed at this point. The State won't take on the project. Plus with the unsta...

Re: NS Peavine talk
I can't get that link to work but I have looked on the site and don't see anything. Will do a little more searching tonight. I bet Midland Sub knows something. He has all the scoop!

Re: NS Peavine talk
So Paw are how much of a section are they taking out? Is this before the bridge at Vera or before? Since that track hasn't been used in years I don't see them putting it back in unless there is something in the works. I haven't seen any news on this construction from ODOT but if the State is doing i...

Re: NS Peavine talk
Midland back In his old form. What is going on over on the I&O? Seen many MOW guys working on the tracks of late. Maybe its time to spend some money on the tracks before there is a accident. Running four trains a day plenty of rattling of the rails over time things start to go bad. Peavine rails are...

Re: NS Peavine talk
To be honey it would be a far stretch to invest millions to make this into a commuter rail but with the 32 project dead in the water and the traffic being what it is on 50 and 32 during rush hour something needs to be done. Columbia Parkway traffic is backed up for miles from the city though Mariemo...

Re: NS Peavine talk
http://easterncorridor.org/projects/oasis-rail-transit/oasis-rail-transit-project-overview/ This is back in the news again. I thought it was a dead issue until Monday nights meeting. Apparently this is some forward momentum as a few people in the State are pushing forward on the issue. Since the 32 ...

Re: NS Peavine talk
There was a load of gravel and stone sent west a few weeks back. There was a video on that Jaw Tooth made I do believe showing the CET moving four car loads west. The rails have been cleared off at Plum Road. Work has been done there weeks ago more work was being done there last week. The stone comp...

Re: busiest freight route into chicago
I've been watching live rail cams and looks like Coal City is has an active rail line. 60 to 80 trains a day and they move going though there. Mostly intermodal some mixed but rather active. Check it out on You tube.

Re: NS Peavine talk
It now has been confirmed that the stone company out on Plum Road is going to start doing business with the CET. The CET has already started to haul some stone west to Clare yard. The CET is doing work on the rails at Plum Road clearing the rails of brush and gravel that has covered the rails out th...

Re: NS Peavine talk
I was down at the site on Sunday. Of course no train action as nothing moves on the Peavine on Sunday but there were some cars sitting on the west side by Clare on the siding. The old Steam Plant is history and saw some You Tube videos of the plant before and after it was taken down. The interesting...
