Re: Southern and Central Indiana Railfanning

Okay, thank you so much. I might just stop by Muncie early in the morning then work my way south towards Indy and then west to Terre Haute. Thank you guys for all of the information.

Re: CP to Buy KCS

https://www.trains.com/trn/news-reviews/news-wire/cp-and-kcs-project-dramatic-rise-in-daily-train-counts/ The train counts will drastically go up. One notable change for railfans around here will be that 140/141 will become 170/171 and will extend the route all the way to Lazaro Cardenas and will be...

I've been seeing a 301 recently on the Durand cam, at least someone has been calling it that. Maybe another local?
Wondering if this is a new train or a reroute. I have been seeing M302 a lot as well

CN Flint Sub Train Symbols

So I have been railfanning this line a lot in the past couple years. I noticed some new strange symbols like M301, M302 and Q121 as of October 2021. I am probably way behind. If anyone can clarify, do these train symbols look right? I believe this was like this in the summer. Help would be appreciat...

CSX freight with a K5LA horn through Livonia MI at around 9 am. Unsure if it's a local or a road freight. Just heard it from my house when I was getting up

Re: Southern and Central Indiana Railfanning

I apologize for the late response. I have been super busy with college and work so I have not had time to check the responses. But I just want to say thanks for those who responded. Muncie seems like the real deal. I have a few more questions about Indy though is there more than one CSX main besides...

Ahh I did not know that minus that error. I thought it was the Saginaw sub to the Stateline.

Re: Ft. Madison, Iowa

Definitely more than 60 trains a day on the Marceline sub. The line has to see 80 trains a day due to more mixed freights, grain trains, sand trains and etc joining the line from Galesburg. Would also recommend visiting Galesburg IL, more than 90 BNSF trains a day from several BNSF lines converging.

Re: Pikes Peak Cog Railway

Highly recommend visiting. We went on this ride back in 2015 when I was 13 years old. One of the best experiences ever. 90 degrees when you leave the station and you go so high up that it quickly turned into a day in November with temps just shy of 45 and stormy. Colorado is an interesting state to ...

Re: CSX road crossings in Plymouth

Okay that is great. But I want to know how is Monroe County and other counties in the state of Michigan do not see it as a big problem but Wayne county is suffering? The CSX Saginaw sub goes all the way into Toledo and once you hit the county line crossings are alot more smoother than those in Plymo...

Re: Intermodal Traffic

I would not be surprised. Airports are a mess right now due to shortages and people not wanting to work for them which is just stupid. CSX even has been dealing with crew shortages but honestly CSX brought that on themselves by the lower wages and the company treating their employees like crap. Bott...

Lease craze again?

Spotted early this morning on the Deshler Ohio camera were 4 Citirail GEVOS heading west on CSX Q369. I heard they were bound for Canadian National in Chicago IL as CN began to lease again. This happening again? As traffic continues to build from a broken economy from 2020 are railroads slowly start...

Southern and Central Indiana Railfanning

Thinking about taking a trip here in November on Thanksgiving break. Is places like Muncie, Indy, Terre Haute or Princeton worth visiting these days? Kinda looking at shortlines too and big mainline railroading. But I also do not wanna be on the NS Chicago line or CSX Garret sub since I have seen th...

Re: CSX road crossings in Plymouth

I was told it was on MDOT. Just a waste of time and stupidity by the city of Plymouth to contact CSX. CSX can only fix bells, gates, lights and etc. And my god it's not just Plymouth that is suffering. Try going to New Boston, Romulus and Westland most if not are all bad. I live in the area and they...

Re: CSX's Plymouth Subdivision

It is going to happen soon I bet. I am right next door pretty much to the line here in Livonia/Plymouth area. I have lived here for 12 years and I have never seen much other than storage near Beck Road. Aka you are lucky to catch more than one CSX train on the Plymouth sub in Lansing. :P I am willin...

Yeah I heard railfans say that you sometimes get it just right and sometimes you dont get it. Its all luck on the NS in Fostoria.

An Increase on NS in Fostoria? A Decrease on CSX in Fostoria

Yesterday when I was at NTD in Toledo. Someone gave me a flyer about Fostoria Rail Fest. I said I go there every so often. I asked him about the decreased traffic. Because I watch the cams on RS and I was there in February. I noticed something that I thought would never happen: Decreased traffic. La...
