Re: Where Is It?

I'll throw out one more, this time something a little less generic looking. To get started, this was once upon a time New York Central trackage, and under Penn Central was part of the Detroit Division. Shipshewana Branch, 1970-1980

Hello everyone, I am looking for information on the rail line to Shipshewana, Indiana. It started in Goshen, and travelled through Middlebury to reach Shipshewana, Under Penn Central, it was called the Shipshewana Branch. I have not found much about the branch online. According to the USRA Final Sys...

Past Tracks and Customers along KLSC/WMI in Hartford MI

Hello everyone, I’m curious about some track and buildings that used to be along the Kalamazoo, Lake Shore and Chicago / West Michigan in Hartford. The area in question is between the CSX mainline in the east, North Edwin Street in the west, and north of Hilliard and Hart Streets. A snippet from a 1...

Good find there redlodger.
Surprised the AARHTS info doesn't show in a google search.
Thanks! It was dumb luck I found it. The T-D history was buried in a Google search, and figured I’d check the AARHTS home page and see if anything looked promising.

Re: Alfalfa mill in Dundee served by Ann Arbor?

I have no problem with the remaining spur having been the DT&M. But the original question was in regard to the area of Tecumseh and Barnum. That would have been off of the Toledo-Detroit line- DT&I. Meints Railroad Atlas of Michigan Volume 3 Page 223 (Monroe County-Dundee) will show you what I have...

Re: Alfalfa mill in Dundee served by Ann Arbor?

Siding is shown on 1923 Sanborn Map. At that time I think it would have been a spur off of the DT&I. I don't think there was an alfalfa mill there. Here is a link to the Dundee Sanborn Maps online at the Library of Congress. Judge for yourself. https://www.loc.gov/collections/sanborn-maps/?fa=locat...

Alfalfa mill in Dundee served by Ann Arbor?

Hello everyone, I'm trying to track down the identity of a building that was at the end of the Ann Arbor spur in the north end of Dundee. It shows up in topographic maps from 1942 and 1972. It was located near the corner of Tecumseh Street and Barnum Street. Going by what's there today, it's a spars...

Re: Did GTW Acquire PC Track in Oxford?

Somewhere I read there was a lumber yard in Oxford that in 1973 received 250 car loads. I think it was a PC customer. I don't know where it was located in Oxford but I assumed it was south of the GTW crossing. Perhaps GTW acquired this short stretch to service the lumber company and anything else t...

Did C&O apply to abandon Hartford-Paw Paw line, circa 1976?

Hello everyone, I came across an environmental assessment report in Google Books for an abandonment proposal of the C&O line between Hartford and Paw Paw, Michigan, dated May, 1976. The report stated that the environmental impact would be minimal if the line, except for a small segment in Hartford, ...

Re: Customers on what is now Lapeer Industrial, circa 1976

1. Union Camp was at the far southern end of the line. The last time I drove through that area, there was still a boxcar down there that has been sitting there for longer than I can remember. Perhaps as long as UC has been closed. Is the building now Grid Logic, at 1070 Clark Road, south of Demille?

Re: Customers on what is now Lapeer Industrial, circa 1976

Does anyone know what other customers were served circa 1976? I imagine the grain elevator would make up most of the remaining 190 cars in 1973. Union Camp closed in December, 1980. Wading through more USRA related documents this morning yielded an answer about those 190 cars. According to the Publ...
