A shot I took while chasing the inaugural run of Amtrak's Pere Marquette in August, 1984- Amtrak business #10000 bringing up the rear past the wigwag signal at Baldwin Street in Jenison.

Re: Burley Park Railway

I haven't come up with a photo of the MTC G-16 streamliner set at the Lowell Railway, yet, but tonight I stumbled across a photo my father shot of that set when Deer Park still owned it. http://www.fritzmilhaupt.com/bbgraphics/DeerParkRailroad-c1969-JRMilhauptPhoto-Sm.jpg I think that this was shot ...

Re: Grand Ledge passenger station

Sometime recently I researched this and posted the results to to some discussion board, I forget where. Going from memory, after about 1928, the passenger depot was on the south side of the track along Washington Street near the end of Mineral Street, a ways west of M-100. Prior to that, it was alon...

Re: Burley Park Railway

I remember the Lowell Railway pretty vividly from my childhood. It was basically kitty-corner across M-21 and slightly to the west of Harold Ziegler Ford, the site of the church that Plannerdad mentioned. After the fire that burned down the shop and equipment shed at the Lowell Railway, the property...

GTW 5030 may be going to Pennsylvania

Looks like there's a chance that GTW Pacific 5030 could be leaving the park in Jackson for a new home and restoration in SE Pennsylvania on the Colebrookdale Railroad . Jackson Mayor Derek Dobie announced Friday on Facebook that a sale agreement has been negotiated (see https://www.facebook.com/dere...

Then CF&E gives it off to INER? I forget whose tracks the Little River runs on
After the prep work is done in Valpo, the last hop before the INER (host of the Little River RR) will have to be via NS to Montpelier- that's the only place INER interchanges with anyone else.

Re: Frankfort Question

There was also a Standard Oil depot on the Frankfort side of the lake into at least the late 1950s.

There are a couple of color photos of it in Steve Hile's book on the UTLX tank car fleet.

Nearly twenty years ago, I produced and sold a small run of HO scale decals to stripe and letter Ludington & Northern SW8 #16 in its original scheme, as well as its later variants. It covered its time on the Ann Arbor Railroad, the Michigan Southern (and its brief stint in Muskegon on the Michigan S...

Re: Midland area flooding

It occurs to me that the Sanford Historical Society's facility, with its rolling stock and the former Sanford depot, is/was most likely too close to the river to have escaped harm. I imagine that it would come down to a matter of elevation. Obviously, the folks in Sanford have bigger things to be co...
