Railroad reading
I've been enjoying a series of books by a retired railroader named Charles H. Geletzke. The title I'm reading now is called "with the slack, that will do, and other railroad stories" These are basically a collection of stories told by him and other railroaders he worked with over the years about lif...

Re: Richmond, Romeo & Rochester (RR&R)
Looks great AARR! I like that you are modeling Grand Trunk. The layout looks like it will be fun to operate. I like your idea of having each industry be a separate scene or diorama. I hoped to do something similar on mine to give it the feel of being larger that it is while operating. Not necessaril...

Re: Grinding noise in old Athearn Bluebox PA units
I'm not sure why its grinding, but the athearn blue box units are pretty easy to take the shell of and run with out the shell. If you haven't tried that already it might be a good place to start. Also there is not much in there as far as weights go so you can see whats going on fairly well.

Very nice report and pictures! Thanks for sharing. I miss being able to see and photograph the GLC. I'm pretty sure 386 is an SD35, I haven't had a chance to see those in person yet.

I'm just having too much fun patching and weathering lately. I just wish I could get the pics to turn out better http://railroadfan.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10457/3309-3.jpg http://railroadfan.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10457/3309-2.jpg http://railroadfan.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10457/3309-1...

Re: Walthers proto GP35
I just noticed that your 35 is a later model because it has the thin frame where the bell is. In the older versions there was a drop at that point. Good eye, I didn't notice that nor was I aware of the difference. I did notice that the fuel tank on the walthers model looks a little different. I tho...

Walthers proto GP35
Here is my GP35 that I also weathered and patched. I really like running this as a consist with the GP30. Both have Tsunami 2 sound decoders and scale sound systems speakers. http://railroadfan.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10457/4393-2.jpg http://railroadfan.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10457/4393-1.j...

Re: Walthers proto GP30 Chessie/CSX patch
Thanks, but the details are pretty much stock from the factory. The only changes I did were the renumbering, CSX patch, and the weathering. Otherwise the model was close enough for me. You are right about the Light, and the color of the light housing should be blue instead of yellow. Also the number...

Re: Walthers proto GP30 Chessie/CSX patch
Thanks C&O dispatcher. I understand that. Growing up seeing the dirty old patched Chessie cats makes me want to recreate that look I guess. I'm currently working on a GP-35 and have plans to do a SCL GP40, a Chessie GP40-2 and maybe a GE or two. AARR yes that's a couple, still hoping to see some pic...

Walthers proto GP30 Chessie/CSX patch
re-numbered my proto GP30 to a CSX number that I had a picture of. Also did a little weathering. I don't think the pictures do the weathering justice. I was surprised how well it turned out. Thats a really nice picture! I love seeing stuff from this era in Michigan, and the unusual perspective makes it even better. So much to take in, chessie loco, old chessie caboose, old signals, 86' auto parts box.
