Re: Amtrak 501 derails 12/18/2017
I wonder how far back from the curve PTC would realize that 80 isnt 30 and act accordingly? PTC continuously assesses your speed and distance to restrictions, and gives visual and audible warnings if you are operating outside the parameter of where it thinks you need to be. It provides a timer show...

Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Definitive Thread
I’m sure this has been said before, but why not ship directly to Campbell’s via rail again? The bridge is there. I realize the facility sits on top of the old ROW, but could it be reconfigured? When GTW removed the line from Malinta, the bridge was deeded to the City of Napoleon under the condition...

I don't have a problem with it, but my friend the union rep does. He only sent it to 12 people, so it shouldn't be too hard to find the "leak".PerRock wrote:If you've got such a problem with it, bring it up with the guy who posted it online when he shouldn't have. I only quoted what s/he posted.

I care BnO. That and .50 cents get you a cup of coffee...somewhere. I prefer a bacardi and diet myself... He probably should have said Internal Message Only or something to TRY and keep it off the boards..at least he could say he tried then. C'est la vie. Dano Sorry, I don't do coffee. My caffeine ...

Re: Lake Shore Limited Michigan test routing
From a Facebook posting on a Amtrak Fans page. Supposedly from a Amtrak staffer, but not 100% verified: Amtrak is running the Lake Shore with one unit as it is--I can't see it sparing another one for a split section. Here's what engineers in the Toledo Crew Base are being told by their union: I rec...

Re: Progress of the Michigan Line M/W (part 4)
Word on the street is that Amtrak's Lake Shore Ltd. will be rerouted through Mich. in October for a month on an experimental basis. Don't worry, the nuclear codes won't be stolen because of this post. Problem is, those that provide the inside information that was to be kept "off the street" could s...

Because I was told something in confidence that is not yet for publication. No, it is not freight related, and is scheduled to happen in October. Deal with it.Steve B wrote:

Re: Toledo, Lake Erie & Western (TLEW)
The T&LEW will not probably see freight service for like 20 years Because the tracks are SO OLD. You are basing these expert opinions on what? They need to just rip up the rails and let it die. I just want to say Die Toledo Lake Erie and Western you tried too much you had a great life. Yes, because...

It's a siding good for 2mph with no train within miles. But yes that's a no-no. Didn't realize Barney Fife would be on the case if I posted such a picture. No such thing as a "siding good for 2 MPH". Photos can be accessed by anybody who comes to this website. Just means a lot of people will contin...

Re: Gap in a rail
Well maybe the photographer noticed there were no trains as far as the eye can see. It looks too square cut and clean to be a break. Must be a oversight in the last track re-hab. Rail fans have been involved in reporting trouble on a line that the RR were grateful. Please not all of us near rail li...

Re: Gap in a rail
Broken rail, and has been for a while. Rusted end on the rail, slight battering of the head on both sides, and the rail segment on the left has been impacting the ballast underneath.
