Re: CN Flagging crossings in Pontiac
I'd wager an exercise in risk mitigation vs. an actual problem. Paste a car at a crossing and have a lawyer find out you were "testing" new equipment across a public roadway. What could be so different with these coaches that there would be an issue with crossing protection? I think it’s less cross...

Re: New Signal Installation Below Blue Water Bridge?
Border Patrol is having some sort of special barrier installed near the crossing under the bridge, I don't know much past that, these signals are likely just indications to allow the crew to proceed once the barrier is down similar to the signals at the Black River Bridge.

Re: CN puts Wisconsin-Michigan-Ontario lines up for sale
Let's quell most of the rumors here, all lines being put up for sale in the US are in the Upper Peninsula and Wisconsin. The only 2 lines presently that are in Michigan on the block is the Newberry line from Trout Lake to Munising, and the White Pine Branch that has been mothballed for several years...

CN 3001 is the power, I believe 1 baggage car, 2 coaches, a decorated coil car, and a decorated flat car. Nothing says Merry Christmas like a GEVO with antlers.

It was a tamper and regulator that was moving north from Pitt, that equipment shunts where hyrail trucks do not, and they cannot easily just get off the tracks and drive down the road like a hyrail truck.

Re: CN Michigan Customers
Interesting. Is that because CN doesn't want to bother with making a run over to the Longway interchange tracks? Let the LSRC do the work, so to speak. What kind of freight do they interchange? The interchange track at Averill and RT Longway is disconnected on the LSRC side and the track is in terr...

I'm not having any trouble distinguishing between Cory and Snow. I've been out at both with my camera. I was attempting to ask if "Cory" includes the seven north-south tracks NORTH of Billwood, adjacent to the plant (if not on it) are considered part of Cory along with the 3 or 4 tracks alongside t...

Re: This Should Not Have To Be Said
I once saw a legitimately dangerous situation near a grade crossing—a pull-apart in cold weather, battered and misaligned by the train the caused it to break—and I hesitated to call the 800 number on the crossing simply because I didn’t want to be lumped in with meddling idiots like this. There is ...

While I am not a personal user of scanners, it just never interested me, a lot of people do, and there is nothing wrong with that. But for those that do, do the rest of us that enjoy watching, photographing, and doing videography of trains a favor: do not under any circumstances ever call a train an...

Re: Lake State Lease of Dunn Paper Mill Track in Port Huron
Interesting in that it also that it states GTW will maintain the Black River Drawbridge. So they really aren't doing this to get away from maintaining the line. So what is GTW getting away from? CN will ONLY maintain the bridge, they are not responsible for the track or the crossings that are also ...

Emergency rail change in the middle of the crossing due to a serious rail defect. Half of the deck had to be removed and then they were able to remove and replace the defective rail.

This is called the Lansing Thoroughfare because it is non-signaled track, it is set up this way because of Snow yard. Trains can move freely, switching as they see fit on it, with dispatcher permission. With the Millet pass switches on each end being hand throws, Purina, and the Meijer lead, it was ...

It happened at BWL downtown, not out by Mill, BWL shoved over the derail on the east end.
