Yeah, but it can be some nice added detail. It's really small to make, I'll give you that...

AA mileposts

This is such a minor detail in every meaning of the word, but I'm planning an AA-themed 4x8 in N scale, and I was wondering if anyone knows what the Annie's mileposts looked like mid-70s to very early 80s. If it's ubiquitous it doesn't matter, but I want to make sure I'm not bypassing a unique detail.

Thanks! SD80, that shot is great! I wish I could chase in the daytime this year, but I guess always next year. My schedule hardly ever lines up with the 1225's, otherwise I wouldn't be driving in the middle of a part of Michigan I've never visited...at night...

Re: 1225 Polar Express info

Thanks for the help guys! It was dark and I didn't have much idea what I was doing while chasing, but I had a fun time anyway. Next year I'll bring more flashes

Re: 1225 Polar Express info

Actually sat down and read the site info, that helps. Good trick to learn info.

So I guess I'm just looking to see if they'll have a diesel helper, since it appears that there is no wye to turn it.

1225 Polar Express info

To the best of my knowledge, tomorrow 1225 is running a Polar Express out of Owosso at 6PM. That's all I know. So if I may ask, where does it go to? Is GLC providing a helper, do they have to go in reverse the way back? I'm pretty in the dark, and I'll be in the dark by the time they leave, so any a...

Re: Time Machine for a Day

A couple ideas. First, Athens, Ohio in the late 70s, with Conrail running 10ish trains a day (with some old PC stuff mixed in) and the B&O Southwestern mainline still in and running plenty of trains. We're talking all sorts of geeps on all sorts of trains! Second, the old Ann Arbor line, maybe from ...

Caught the southbound to Owosso after they switched Clare yesterday. 396 and 385. Little bit late.

It was made pretty clear to me when I first got into steam engines, that they are never to be called units. :D

Re: 611 Under Steam

Gotta agree. It's pretty common to refer to steam engines (or most others too, but I stay away from that) a she. I do it sometimes. I guess all the work that goes into making it run, everything, nominates it to be a she. :D

Re: Michigan Shortlines April 2015

I went to Owosso today from Northville. A lot shorter of a drive than I thought. Appears 394 has taken the place of 389, and is now on a shop truck. 391 was there too, and 389 (out of frame) is on two ALCO trucks again. Missing a fan though.

Re: NS Peavine talk

I don't get why optimistic speculation is frowned upon so much. We're all railfans. Common sense comes and goes, but the entire hobby is a lot of speculation. I wonder why nothing is lined. Is it getting a crew change here or there? No, it doesn't look good for the Peavine. But just maybe some peopl...

There's an autorack at Eckels. I don't know any symbols or MPs, just an annual visit here. Anything else around?
