Re: My "Anywhere Michigan" N-scale Layout

Thank you for all that! Do you have any pictures to go along with it? It would help...with modeling... (honestly I'd just like to see some of this stuff!) Also...is it possible to run a WC GP40? I mean, I will either way but it was too good an offer to pass up and it had DCC for $65, I plan to add D...

Re: ns heritage units: who has seen them and who hasn't

I've seen 8. I think. Lemme see if this list is right... PC. NKP. IT. SOU. NYC. MGA and LV. And this past Saturday, the Wabash. There was almost a year gap between NKP and IT.

Really great time there. Met some friends and saw the Wabash pass the NYC!

Re: NYC Heritage Unit at NTD Toledo May 3

One of the eight...unless GLC brings out the 2648 and sends it down. And no, I'm not joking. No names of course, but an engineer on GLC told me he had heard the 2648 was planned to go down. Yes...I mean the GP35 high-hood that's been in storage for who knows how long!

Re: AA roster summary

Do you mind if I use that F40PH scheme on an N scale model? I was thinking about it before, but now I'm settled since I'm getting a crappily painted Amtrak F40 and I plan to use this. Any copyright issues or anything? Just don't want to get sued :D

Re: My "Anywhere Michigan" N-scale Layout

Model Railroaders Special Issue Model Railroad Planning 2005 has an article on Arnt Gerritson's AA layout including the carferry operations in Frankfort/Elberta. Connections with Penn Central and C&O are part of the layout. It is a very good article, including the track plan. If you are interested,...

Re: NYC Heritage Unit at NTD Toledo May 3

Heard today from a guy on the Toledo national train day board that along with the NYC unit, Antrak display, and WLE engine (freshly shopped SD40-2 possibably), GLC is supposed to be sending down a freshly shopped GP35 and maybe a couple of the MDOT commuter coaches. Also supposed to be some MOW equ...

Re: My "Anywhere Michigan" N-scale Layout

Although I live in Ohio, I'm a bigger fan of operations in Michigan. Everything is more unique with less trains, and I love the single-track meets, shortlines, and really all in-between! This became my N-scale layout. It's a 4x8 1/2, and I'll post pictures if needed but it's nothing to marvel at ri...

Good, because I ordered a B&O/chessie GP40 instead of C&O sublettered. Now I can live with my mistake :D

R.E.M., Duran Duran(d), Smiths, anything on the first wave satellite radio station! I just wish they wouldn't beat The Pretenders, Elvis Costello, The Clash, Joe Jackson and The Cars (which doesn't even belong on 1st Wave) into the ground. I used to not mind The Pretenders until I started listening...

Re: Favorite scanner chatter

Here's one. "Clear the signal (can't remember), Q234."
Then the dispatcher: "Thirty-four?!"
The train: "235"
Dispatcher: "THIRTY-FIVE?!?"
So I don't know what the actual number was, and it doesn't sound like the crew did either :D

One way we looked at it back in 2002-4 was to run only local service. From area of Cherry Growers to center of town and on to the casino and back maybe four times a day. Sort of a poor man's commuter. One version had rush hour moves in and out and daytime and evening runs. The object was to not onl...

It won't work. I love the idea, it could work, but it won't. I'll be the happiest guy here if I'm proven wrong, but politicians will never agree with it.
