Re: LS&MS Grand Rapids Division Pics
How did a GTW loco get to be south of Grand Rapids on the old NYC? I don't know the exact connection but the GTW does go to Battle Creek so they must have had access to what is now the Grand Elk Railroad somehow. Pere MQT1223, I'm guessing that they shoved the executive train north through Plainwel...

Looks good man. Amazing how fast a layout starts to come around after a little bit of hardshell to give you a rough form. Im in the market for a backdrop similar to yours but I need late fall/early winter trees with no leaves. Where did you order yours from? No-one seems to make that time of year wi...

For Patrick, here's what the west end of the ex-PH&D yard looks like in Port Huron, or at least what it looked like back in April. Lots of bumpers.
The right hand 3 tracks are exactly what I have in mind. Thanks for a great photo.

Re: Stub end railyards in Michigan
CSX North yard near BC Cobb in Muskegon has 2 stub ended tracks. Both have Hayes style bumpers protecting the end of track.
Good info guys, how about more details on the ends of the stub?
Thanks,

Re: Stub end railyards in Michigan
Any specifics about those yards? I've been around the west side of the Ludington yard but I didn't stop to see how the tracks terminated. Was it always a stub end yard or did all tracks converge to the boat slip?MQT3001 wrote:New Buffalo is stub-ended, as is Ludington

Completely forgot about that yard. Been there a few times measuring up equipment but never made it down far enough to see how the track ends.Doktor No wrote:Wyoming 36th Street ex Fisher Body yard on GDLK is too.

Stub end railyards in Michigan
Besides Kilgore yard, are there any other rail yards that were stub ended either by design or later in the yards lifespan? I'm looking to see what determined the use of certain types of bumpers or ballast piles at the end of each stub track.
Thanks,

Im wondering if the truck driver had a medical emergency. MT truck, no skid marks, good weather, etc, something just doesn't add up He was 77 years old which was what didn't add up. Hard to believe any interstate trucking company would take the risk of letting a 77 year old be on the road whether i...

Re: Rodgers City Coal Plant Finished
Bottom line is, the industry is going to have to do something. Rumor is that MCV has a permit for a 650MW plant on its current site. CMS will have secured the Jackson plant (NG) by 2016 The good thing about the Jackson plant. If Gas is high in price, they run right passed the plant. If its a little ...
