Cascades NPCU 90230 ran on the Michigan Line in early 2009 and was based out of Chicago, maybe just for that winter. I’m not sure if it ever ran on the PM.

Re: Capitol Limited
The brake certifications issue is 100% a lack of reasonable foresight issue. Sidelining sightseer lounges made sense. There shouldn't be revenue generating equipment (coaches & sleepers) sitting around awaiting certification - including transition dorms. Does passenger equipment require a different ...

Re: Amtrak Train Location Update/Heads Up thread 2023
I'm guessing it is easier to conduct testing in Michigan where Amtrak owns or controls the tracks. CN seems to be the instigator of the stricter axle count rules. Perhaps running this test equipment on the Michigan Line will allow not only testing on the Amtrak owned portion of the route, but for a...

Re: GLC RR
Earlier in the GLC era, I was told by a reliable source that the Owosso shop crew often plans a couple of major projects over each winter when grain traffic is much slower, it wouldn’t surprise me if a few more numbers join that active list as winter warms into spring. 4 units minimum seem to be nee...

C800-29 @ 15:43 eastward Holland, Mi Depot mp CG25.3 In about ½ mile he’ll diverge onto the west end of the Wye & then onto the Fremont sub-division. I caught the end of this train in downtown Holland. Interestingly, the last couple cars were lettered for BNSF, not CPOX, DEEX, PSTX, or the usual ot...

Here’s a link to a recent photo of CDTX 2007. The “Amtrak California” lettering will give the people something to talk about for the next many weeks! http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=5815966 Side note, Trains just had an article about the crossing circuit shunt requirements. Van Den Bosch Feed, Zeeland
Van Den Bosch Feed, formally the John A. Van Den Bosch Co., is a railroad-served business in Zeeland not too far from where I live. They mix and market several varieties of pet food, bird seed, animal feed, and related products. They're served by CSX's Y121 job, based in Holland Waverly Yard. You ca...

As Saturnalia mentioned, 27 is one among about 16ish P42s that are/were ITCS equipped to operate on the Michigan Line. 16 u...

This is one of my favorite Railroad Days photos, the 1914-built Industrial Brownhoist crane from the Detroit River Tunnel. The lifting demonstrations didn't capture my interest as a kid like they might now, but it's something you really can't find too many other places. D&M switcher 8 provided the s...

Waverly Yard in Holland seems to be home to long lines of loaded bulkhead flats with lumber for Lumberman’s, and the typical graffiti clad boxcars which go to Stow on the Fremont Subdivision. An assortment of other tankcars and a loaded lumber centerbeam were also seen. Meanwhile, in Grandville, the...

Re: GLC / AA Merger WHAT IF
In this hypothetical situation, I could see a Toledo to Owosso or Owosso to Toledo train needing to focus on getting over the road and not having enough time to work all the online customers along the way. I could see a definite need for a local based out of the small yard at Milan. This job could w...
