Re: layout video

Keep the vid's coming. I'm hoping to finally get my layout going this winter as well. For now I just have a small 1x4 N scale switching puzzle/layout and an 4x8 HO oval. I've got 3 major scenes from from LS&I, LSRC, and Marquette Rail I am trying to mash together in AnyRail for the big layout.

Re: LSRC MP15's Just Arrived

I started with wanting to do just LS&I and now I am working on a mashup of LS&I Ore dock to mine, LSRC Port Huron sub, Marquette Rail Manistee sub and Z151, along with several CN and GTW loco's mixed in... This all started with the pre-order of the Athearn Bluebird AC4400CW's which are now almost a ...

LSRC MP15's Just Arrived

Just received my Athearn Genesis MP15's in LSRC livery! They look great so far, haven't found any major blemishes and I'll hopefully be breaking them in on the oval track soon. Anyone else get there hands one?

Re: Lake States (Gaylord)

okay here is the link to wphm where the podcast resides: https://www.wphm.net/episode/november-7-john-rickoff/ but i'm interested in knowing some more details. Thanks for sharing the link! It'll be one year on the 18th when Dunn paper shut down in Port Huron so it's sad they don't have anything new...

Re: SS Badger - closed for the season

Yes you are correct --there used to be 3 slips at Ludington. Spent quite a few enjoyable hours there when I was alot younger, watching them load/unload the boats. Yes we did, didn't we. Those were the good old days with three slips and all seven boats still operating. Spartan, Badger, City of Midla...

Re: Motown Models GTW GP9R December update

I am really tempted to buy one. I know it is over priced but I am not aware of a GTW GP9R even remotely as exacting and as well constructed. A friend of mine works in a hobby shop and says it truly looks and runs as good as advertised. It will be the last engine I buy for the current layout I am wo...

GMD-1s still in Service with CN?

I was doing some reading on GMD-1's and came across the Wikipedia page which stated 3 GMD-1's are still in service at the Symington yard in Winnipeg. Google Maps with recent satellite data (2023) show 3 units still in the yard but I can't make out the road numbers. Anyone have any idea which road nu...

Re: Atlas starts product run O scale SD70MAC with LSRC colors

Wow. $300+ for locomotives where the handrails will break when the units are just sitting around doing nothing and with nobody handling them! I have pestered Athearn many times for them to replace the cheap plastic handrails with something better, or for metal replacements, but all they offer is th...

Re: Atlas starts product run O scale SD70MAC with LSRC colors

Athearn has these in HO: MP15AC LSRC #1501 MP15AC LSRC #1502 SD70M LSRC #6431 SD70M LSRC #6432 Sad the MP15's won't be seen riverside anymore in Port Huron. But 2 road numbers for the SD70's so you can consist. Athearn seems to really like their paint schemes and they say they are popular as well so...

Re: CP Holiday Train 2022

Looks like the dates have changed but I'm having a hard time reading the schedule with the recent updates. Doesn't look like they did a good job updating the webpage. I believe it says the Windsor stop is now on the 4th.

Re: If you own a drone, read this

DIN Magic Mini 2, the warranty is through DJI themselves. You just submit a fly-away claim and you pay a deductible. No wonder I never heard of it, none of my drones are covered. :( Glad you to hear you got a replacement though. 8) I have felt that sick, empty feeling in my gut many times as I watc...

Re: If you own a drone, read this

Last weekend, my drone joined hundreds of fallen comrades at the bottom of Lake Charlevoix. I'm gonna keep this short and sweet, if the blades on your drone look discolored and/or slightly bent. Change them, IMMIEDIATELY. I did purchase a warranty for this drone, so thankfully it wasn't an expensiv...

Re: Amtrak 353 hits a trespasser in Birmingham

I vaguely remember something about the old Charing Cross Station property being public access but not the road parallel to the tracks. We used to get chased off it all the time back when I was a teenager using it as a short cut.

I am scheduled to install it on Friday, September 23rd, so if a huge explosion occurs in the Washington area that day it is probably me :) . I didn't hear any mutual-aid calls go out for Washington today or see a giant fireball in the distance, so it's either going really well or very poorly. Have ...

Re: Dunn Paper in Port Huron Closing

I just watched the new Delay in Block video on the LSRC Flint and Port Huron Terminals and went to look up when Domtar closed again and the Dunn closing was all over the top of the search results... Really sad to see them go, I was looking forward to doing some rail-fanning there this fall. Even if ...
