Re: Ashcor to reclaim ash at Campbell

Used to work for a large concrete supplier in Detroit. Fly ash is used as a filler/substitute in concrete. We mostly used it to fill older, unused underground storage tanks,or sometimes in footings . Have to remember, that it is NOT as strong as a 6 bag, or 9 bag mix as far as strength is concerned....

Re: Michigan Rail business news redux

Watch--- the bridge will get rebuilt, but business will not increase that much at all. What else needs to go, or be shipped from north of the bridge??

Re: Michigan Rail business news redux

Might be because LSRC has better people, who are thinking a little more about what could/ will work, and who ACTUALLY wants to GROW the RR.

Re: Detroit Railfanning

Personally-- no need to look at NS, CSX-- or UP or BNSF, or any big RR's. If I was to go anywhere, it would be a shortline/regional RR. Nowadays, everything is six axle, look alike widecabs. No thank you.

Re: Detroit Railfanning

Personally--- I would not go anywhere near Detroit, anytime. Born and raised there, used to be great. But as the years go by, don't need it, don't want it. BUT, that is just me--- too old and sick to do anything, or go anywhere.

Re: Ex TSBY 1997 on the move

So then, GLC should look for some SD9's then since the trucks are easier to work on.

Then, what about the other 6 axle units-- where do they get truck work done, if needed??

Re: Ex TSBY 1997 on the move

What's the old saying? If it ain' t broke, don't fix it. If GLC can pay all its bills by running older-- but maintained power--- then what's the issue?? I think a couple of SD38's would be perfect for them. They may NOT want to get into the higher tech locos, and that is fine. It's a pleasant, and w...

Re: Wheeling Lake Erie locomotives looking like Rio Grande locomotives

I remember years back, that when GUILFORD/SPRINGFIELD TERMINAL was getting the SD26's from SANTA FE, and they were just having small initials painted on the cabs, and leaving the ATSF paint--- that ATSF was really ticked about it-- for some reason, and told Guilford to paint the units, and re letter...

Surprised it took this long to register---- not in TSBY colors, but rather in U P. colors, where 1977 came from. I am getting too old !!!

Re: Ex TSBY 1997 on the move

Are you aware, that the other loco that TSBY began with--- the CORKPINE EXPRESS, is an ex-- RUTLAND unit??? That makes it more rare than an EMD switcher. I think there are only 2, or 3 RUTLAND units in existence. And--- I do NOT know who chopped the nose of that RS1.

Survival of the fittest. Or--- Darwin candidate. How drunk/unaware do you have to be to not see or hear a train??
