I looked it up, and that was part of the 4th(IIRC) longest tangent track in the U.S., from Mich. City to a point about 65 miles toward Lafayette, passing through Monon. God what a neat, interesting, and bucolic railroad that was.

My son just texted me, about a ANN ARBOR RR derailment, in Ann ARBOR. Anybody hear anything about this??

If I remember correctly, that stretch of track used to be included in one of the longest stretches of straight track in the country . It's a shame about the old MONON RR, but it was just too neat to last . Would also be curious about an answer to your question, but maybe it's not heavily trafficked ...

Seems kind of like overkill to worry about the winter weather. They will be doing it on a smaller scale, and , I am sure that there are locations in Canada that get worse weather, and more vehicles to move.

As far as LSRC in Gaylord-- after the switch that goes to A&L, the old main line that goes into the downtown area, does it still have any customers, or was LSRC correct in wanting that abandoned years back?? Any new industries that might locate there, as I see a few spurs still in place.
