Not something you see everyday.

I'm currently sitting near CSX Wyoming Terminal in Grand Rapids, MI. There is legit two wild turkeys hanging around the train yard. The one obviously a male has his tail feathers all out and open.

Re: Plymouth Sub Signal Update Thread

So I guess I'm really confused on this thread. Most of the chat and what not was from 2013 saying the signals would be removed but I still see signals along the Plymouth Sub. So I guess I'm just asking what exactly happened and what is going on now 8 years later? Is CSX expecting traffic to increas...

Re: SCMAGLEV Northeast Corridor

Diesel locomotive are cleaner only in the sense that they are capable of hauling more freight per horsepower compared to the number of trucks needed to replace a train. Also, the article discussion is about moving people, not freight. EDIT: The Northeast Corridor is electrified. Freights and some c...

SCMAGLEV Northeast Corridor

So I've been just randomly reading news articles and found an interesting article from my daily google news stuff. I didn't know there was an idea for a maglev in the northeast corridor between Baltimore and Washington D.C. I guess I'm curious what others think and feel on this situation. They're is...

Re: CN locomotive at Wyoming Terminal

It's a spy unit from the CN Borg. They're looking to take over  Do the BNSF units make it up there or are they shuttles in and out of West Olive? Having foreign power in Grand Rapids is rare. In the 5 years I've lived in West, MI this is a first for me. The BNSF foreign power does go to West O...

CN locomotive at Wyoming Terminal

Okay totally was blown away to see a CN locomotive at the wyoming terminal. Don't know if I'm missing something or CSX obtained this engine. Wish I could see the engine number. I heard on the scanner 211 clear to leave. So I don't know. Anyone have an Idea?

The other train you were hearing was D705-23 at Plaster Creek mp CGT 2.0 in the Grand Rapids Terminal. D705 had reported from Pleasant Street mp CH151.3 @ 10:32pm while he was still on the last portion of the Plymouth Sub-Division & about 2 1/2 miles before Plaster Creek. D705 runs daily westward f...

Re: My first Railfanning Mistake.

I have gotten called out by numerous railroad employees in the nearly 51 years I have lived trackside here in Howell by my bright flood lights I use to shine up the trains at night when they go by the house. Mainly by one female employee especially, and I was in no way interfering with their work o...

Re: What is Plaster Creek

Tonight while waiting for Amtrak to come through Grandville I heard what seemed to be another train somewhere on approach at a signal at Plaster Creek. I honestly have no idea where this is. Was wondering if anyone knows where this signal is. The other train you were hearing was D705-23 at Plaster ...

Re: My first Railfanning Mistake.

Everybody screws up sometimes. Learn from your mistake and move on. Oh of course no doubt at all. I guess I never even expected a train crew to say something right on the airwaves. It is a lesson learned. These guys have a lot to pay attention to and my headlights didn't help one bit. The train cre...

FWIW Plaster Creek gets its name from the gypsum deposits and associated mining in the area. The Michigan Natural Storage company off Judd St by CSX uses some of the old mining caverns to warehouse refrigerated and frozen products.
Thank you so much for the information regarding this.
