So that was my routing as an employee. We wouldn’t sell that. Only two of those segments were marketed as a through segment. Also the plane came into Wichita from somewhere out west. 30 people didn’t get off and stayed onboard through to St Louis. I’m just one cog on the gear of the machine. Our plane today flew 9 segments I think. We just flew the last 4 of them.

Live from home. We ran on or ahead of the advertised all day.

Operating 4 flights today ICT-STL-DAL-DEN-MDW. Due into MDW at 23:30 Central time. Yuck.

My next feeding will be two flights down the road at Dallas Love field. Dickey’s BBQ pit.

Also had a slice of dreadfully bland pizza for lunch.

takes about 2 hrs to drive nonstop from porter to wyoming yard in GR, takes a nonstop freight about 3.5 hrs to do the same on a good day. Plenty of time to chase

trains slow down to 15 downtown St. Joe which helps any chase

weekday mornings are best, usually 371/327/326/301 and sometimes coal load/empty thrown in the mix too

my plan is to sneak away (sorta) for 371 and 327 while everyone is asleep

Knowing the roads would be the most important...what shortcuts to take, how to get around the train so you’re not stuck waiting for it, etc.

Depends on the direction of the train, the size of the train, the type of train, etc. Also depends on how frequently you want to photograph the train and how well you know the roads, not to mention how willing you are to exceed the speed limit.

I would say you can chase trains on the GR subdivion. You just have to be strategic and/or plan your encounters farther apart. Also the scanner is very much your friend. And not an online scanner. A real hand held one.
