Old wheel set in Houghton, MIJust west of MTU in Houghton was the old Soo Line Yard. I believe it closed in the mid 70's and now the site is a Super 8 and some real nice houses on the river. But I found this in a field! Note in front of the wheel are 3 ties still in the ground, and a piece of wood. On the other side of this is another piece of wood just like it and is still on the axle. (see the notch in this one for the axle?) Did they really have wood frames??
