Details...When CTC was installed on the B&O between Lima & Perrysburg in the 1920's, there were a pair of sidings in Weston Ohio. Over the years however, both sidings would eventually be removed. On a September 1998 morning, we see a southbound pass under the signal bridge which was part of the interlocking at Weston. As can be seen, there were at one time three signals mounted on the bridge. Today however the bridge is befret of signals as there are no longer any sidings here.MSchwiebert04/24/12 at 07:25DT&I: I wish they were still there... All the signals in...

WEPX CoalThanks to the need for low sulfur coal at a power plant in Wisconsin, railfans along the CSX east of Chicago in the 1980's & '90's were treated to C&NW power on a regular basis. Next Generation ATCSThe new interlockings placed for the North Baltimore project use a satellite link instead of the radio based ATCS link that the existing (from the B&O upgrade project) interlockings do. As a result, these interlockers cannot be monitored by the ATCS software used by railfans. Here we see the dish and the Hoytville "A House" on 11/9/2009MSchwiebert12/05/09 at 17:40Mr. Tops: i can see it now..."Your going to have to han...

Resting GiantOne of the more unusual locomotives to grace the IHRC/Maumee & Western tracks was this Alco "Alligator" A refugee from the IHRC system, to the best of my knowledge never oprated while in Ohio. On a sunny June 1997 afternoon it soaks up the warmth while a sister unit goes about the work at handMSchwiebert06/07/09 at 17:45Y@: 442 and sister 443 are both stored in texas

movin the dirtA large number of earthmovers have been brought in to prep the site for the construction that is to take place as seen here. "boats" and racksFrom a railfan perspective, the algamation of the CSX fleet brought the welcome addition of GE locomotives to locales where in Chessie days they were infrequently seen (The crews however probably had a different perspective!) Here on a clear October 1991 morning, B30-7 5571 (still in it's as delivered Chessie paint) leads U23B 3305 and a GP40 around the Southeast wye at Desher.MSchwiebert05/20/09 at 18:39GP30M4216: I wish I had some photos of my own of Chessie pain...

Pig BoatsBoth the Chessie and Seaboard components of CSX preferred high horsepower four motor units for their intermodal trains. Chessie of course had a large fleet of GP40/40-2's to use, while the Seaboard side had a fleet of U36B's & B36-7's to choose from. An early operational decision saw (much to the dismay of the crews) the GE's replace the GP40's on the Chessie side for a period of time during the late 1980's and early 1990's. On a a June 1990 morning, a trio of B36-7's power an eastbound through Deshler.MSchwiebert03/06/09 at 17:50Y@: Looks weird to not see the park there to the left ...
