GP9 #1602

Former Great Northern GP9 #1602 and ex ATSF GP7u #1500 dig in to lift 53 cars up out of the valley while rounding the curve at Wigent Road, north of Frog-eye, Michigan on the old Lake Shore & Michigan Southern. After switching at Fremont, this lengthy train proceeded across the Michigan border up to Reading, where they dropped a 49-car cut of grain hoppers for loading at the elevator. The four car train then continued to Hillsdale, set off the 1602, and proceeded as a Coldwater turn with "ugly ducking" 1500 alone. November 7, 2008.
