Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad Overview

Founded in 1997, the Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad operates a 25 mile former C&NW line between Spooner, Wisconsin and Hayward, Wisconsin. The line runs dinner trains, bed and breakfast trains, and scenic excursion trains. The railroad also services two customers in Hayward and a Pulpwood Yard in Springbrook. Car storage is another large revenue generator for the railroad. The railroad rosters 12 unique diesel locomotives, and has an extensive passenger car collection.

Excursions typically run from the railroad's depot in Trego to Springbrook.

Trips out of Spooner ended in 2013, when the railroad moved its depot to Trego. The line from Trego to Spooner is now just used for car storage.

The WGNS interchanges with CN at Hayward Junction.
