West Michigan History

  • AAR Reporting Marks WMI
  • Formed in 1995 after the bankruptcy of the Kalamazoo, Lakeshore, and Chicago Railroad
  • Formerly owned by Pioneer Railcorp, now owned by Hamilton Hartford Group
  • Uses locomotives from Great Lakes Locomotive (GLLX)
  • Interchanges rail traffic with CSX in Hartford
  • Currently operates trains on an as needed basis, usually 2-3 times a week
