Pioneer Industrial Railway History
- AAR Reporting Marks - PREX
- Operates in north Peoria, Illinois.
- Began operating the city-owned, Peoria, Peoria Heights & Western Railroad (PPHW) on February 20, 1998.
- Pioneer Railcorp gained control in October 1994.
- Operates about 4.5 miles of track.
- The line is currently only used for car storage. However, as of 2018 there are no cars being stored on the line.
- Interchanges with UP in Peoria, Illinois.
The line has a very dramatic, turbulent, and complicated history which can best be described in the 3-Part YouTube documentary "20 Years of the Pioneer Industrial Railway" by David P. Jordan.
