Oregon Eastern Railroad Overview
The Oregon Eastern Railroad was originally a branch of the Wyoming/Colorado Railroad which was purchased from the Union Pacific Railroad Company in February 1989. The Oregon line had been decimated in a flooding of the Malheur River but was resurrected in 1989 with the aid of the State of Oregon.
The 27 miles of track originates in Ontario and ends in Celatom, Oregon. Utilizing four employees and four GP7 locomotives, the line primarily hauls diatomaceous earth and agricultural products.
The OERR interchanges with the Union Pacific in south Ontario, Oregon.
