Florida Northern Railroad Overview
The Florida Northern Railroad is one of several short line railroads run by Regional Rail (along with the Florida Central Railroad and the Florida Midland Railroad).
Florida Northern Railroad operates 104 miles of track on two separate branch lines. The Ocala Branch runs from Lowell, through Ocala, to Candler. The Newberry Division runs from Newberry to Crystal River. The Newberry Division in recent years has really only been used for CSX coal trains heading to the Crystal River Energy Complex.
FNOR interchanges with CSX at Ocala and Newberry.
