Martin Marietta Train 10/27/04

Unread post by BB »

The other day I decided to follow the Martin Marietta train around the Manistee Lake to East Lake. I was going to go and get a picture of it crossing the trestle bridge but since there was a little bit of traffic on the highway (because of US 31 drawbridge detour) I didn't make it to the bridge in time (look for a picture of the train crossing the bridge sometime) so next place was East Lake on the other side of Manistee Lake. Blue words open new window. All pictures taken are here.

Starting here, this is the farthest that I've ever seen lime hoppers shoved back on this track. This car is almost to the end of the track, the track that would continue to Grawn MI.

Here's a picture of the train from M-55, the road that goes to Cadillac. It's blurry because of too much movement and being far away.

There's the train with its 9 cars. There's more ties closer to town.

Another picture. Getting closer.

Almost to the crossing. Road goes down to boat docks and a campground I think.

On the crossing. A little blurred, need to set a faster shutterspeed

CSX 2575 trailing

A little ways further to go :D

Brandon, nice to see pics of operations in other parts of the state.
Really like the shot of the train at the crossing.

Yeah, but not too much changes around here other than the locomotives. I do think Manistee has neat rail operations. I had the wrong link to the crossing picture but I fixed it now with the awesome feature of being able to go back and edit at anytime.

I'm also glad to see the pics from up in Manistee. Got your private message BB about the manistee pics, and will look at getting them online after i get home from work(at work now)... That edit feature saves me quite often if i accidently post an outdated link, or if the information changes and needs to be updated... I need to get up to Manistee some time... I've been around Baldwin and over to Walhalla once.. Enjoyed the pics
