The drama continues. Amtrak 353 died before Royal Oak. It was shoving its train at restricted speed back to Pontiac past MP 22.5 at 11:38 am. The service alert says they will put the spare locomotive on it at Pontiac and it will continue its way, albeit three hours behind schedule. Poor Amtrak. Not even winter yet. I wonder how the Seimens are doing up in Canada?

Just passed MP 22.5. Over four hours late now. Poor Amtrak. Poor riders.

this didn’t age well, the 68 overheated and is now stuck at Troy. It appears the train was canceled as well. Not sure on further plans.

Do not make eye contact with the train. Do not talk about the train. Do not write about the train. With all this pressure, poor 353 just can’t get past all the performance anxiety it is feeling.

355 hasn't left Pontiac yet. Shown only as "delayed" by 36 minutes as of 5:51 pm.

Maybe picking up Amtrak 353’s set? If it hasn’t left yet 🤷

Is Amtrak keeping a protect engine in Port Huron now? P42 #57 was sitting at the station all weekend (Friday/Saturday/Sunday).
It’s got bad brakes and mechanical hasn’t gotten to it yet
Thanks David.

They must've forgotten about it (out of sight, out of mind) - it's still in Port Huron today.

Sometime in the next few days, Amtrak is going to be running some kind of extra move out of Port Huron towing the bad ordered #57 (which has been sitting in PTH for weeks) back to Chicago. Phase VI P42 #69 will be in charge.

Ready for a time warp? As of today, the John Dingell Dearborn Amtrak Station has been open for 10 years.

As this Detroit Free Press article reminds us, the Ehlers Station in Grand Rapids and the new station in Troy replacing the Birmingham bus stop platform also opened in 2014. I still think of all of these stations as being “new,” but a whole decade of service and increased ridership has already made good use of them.

Running tomorrow out of Port Huron, ~0630 departure time, P42’s #69 and 57 lite power. 30mph all the way to Battle Creek.

Do you happen to know where the P42 #69 will go after Battle Creek? Possibly Chicago, or head back to Port Huron.

Amtrak power move still not by New Buffalo as of 1814. Not sure if it’s because of the speed it’s going or being tied down somewhere

it's the speed

on the Michigan Line, any train with less than 4 pieces of equipment is restricted to 25 mph max...and as they only have two, well....
not to mention, the train directors are pretty notorious about not wanting to delay a psgr train with an equipment move, to the point of being put in a siding hours before a psgr train shows up...probably got held somewhere for a while waiting for 352 and then 364
