14:00 CST, a westbound loaded grain train was hitting the Trail Creek trestle in Michigan City coming from Decatur. Power was NS 7147 and 7146 and a pair of eastbound facing GE’s and an assortment of rental fleet covered hoppers. It caught me off guard, so no photo.

Meanwhile, the sidings at USALCO in Michigan City were stacked with covered hoppers and tankcars. Is it a NS job from Burns Harbor that comes up and switches these Michigan Line industries a few times per week?

The Nipsco Michigan City plant is closed. The former coal train staging area along US12 is now home to assorted covered hoppers. A few tankcars and covered hoppers were also parked on the CSS lead near Wabash Street - interchange between the CSS and NS, perhaps?
