I'm thinking they run it as needed with an extra crew. I don't think there's enough work yet to run a scheduled job.

Kalkaska- there is the transload in town and the MichCon (whatever they are called now) just south of town.

As TC Man said there are two tank car customers in Kalkaska. The transload is methanol in regular tank cars for Magnum Solvents which receives a few car loads every other week or so. Then the gas plant south of town ships butane in large tank cars. The gas plant ships 40-60 cars a month (maybe more?)

Also, thinking the trackwork here should resume soon...
Fine with me as we hardly have any trains here let alone them running at night that I never see.

398 and 382 returned to Cadillac approximately 1500 with 30 cars, mostly tie gons. Nothing for TC.

Looks like they came into TC again at night (Tuesday night) based on the rearranged gons at Beacon. And fresh flange marks on the Williamsburg branch.

I didn't see the news anyplace on RRfan but the Viking Energy plant in McBain is now owned by National Salvage and Service Co. https://www.nssccorp.com/
Their website says they handle NS tie disposal so that should mean more traffic. The ties no longer are taken for free. There's now a charge of $1 / tie.
