Re: CSX Train Location Updates: March, 2020.
Q329-28 @ 10:43am was advised by Dispatch the local police had spotted a car near the middle of their train having brakes on fire. No mile post was given yet & Q329 had said they had gone over the detector (mp CH104.3) with no alarms. The DD sites have HBD (Hot Bearing Detectors) & those scanners are rail mounted & aimed to scan the wheel bearings & usually won't detect a stuck brake unless enough particles are seen by these infra-red scanners. There are also HWD's (Hot Wheel Detectors) that have scanners usually on a small pole mount that are aimed at the area of the wheels where the brake shoes are & are deigned to detect stuck brake issues.BL2-1843 wrote:Q32928 by Howell at 08:18 with 5114+397 on the head end and 85 cars, to go along with the 101 cars D708 took back to Lansing with them yesterday. 5114 was the trailing unit behind 3035 on 328 yesterday. 3035 was pulled off and replacedd with 397. Q32828 went east at 06:15 with 4538+5404 and 52 cars.
Q329-28 @ 10:53am was heard reported by the DD mp CH104.3 with 640 axles & 9,519 ft long & No Defects detected. CSX engines #5114 + #397 & 157 cars. (There are varying time delays when listening to the CSX radio calls on Broadcastify). Q329-28 had stopped at mp CH106.4
At 11:34am Q329 answered Dispatch stating 2 cars had been cut out & the Car Inspector is also there with them.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates: March, 2020.
Has N800-27 hunkered at Grand Junction or Fenneville? Has any power been sent or called for them?
Re: CSX Train Location Updates: March, 2020.
Just heard the RN tell Q327-28 that they will be going in New Buffalo for Q326-28. N800-28 should be somewhere behind Q326, so I wonder if they'll hold Q327 there for N800 as well... Q327 is around Sawyer, just leaving my scanner range.

Sounded like D801 @ 11:48am was getting ready to move N800-27 & was instructed to return to Grand Junction after he is done & meet up with N800-28.train91 wrote:Has N800-27 hunkered at Grand Junction or Fenneville? Has any power been sent or called for them?

Re: CSX Train Location Updates: March, 2020.
N800-28 @ 12:02pm reported from mp CG95. Read here he has BNSF engines #9232 + #9075. Cleared the St Joseph Bridge @ 12:24pm.
Q329-28 @ 12:25pm was on the move & then was advised by Dispatch his camera shot (don't know where that is) is showing stuck brake issues with the 37th & 39th cars and is to stop his train to inspect them. The earlier trouble reported with a brake fire being seen by local police & after inspection Q329 to cut out the 100th & 120th cars in his train & now a 3rd car is to be cut out, too (don't know where in the train the 3rd car is). No mp heard yet, the plan I think I had heard was to get him into Sunfield siding.
At 13:06 Q329-28 reported no issues found with their 37th & 39th cars. Running at 8mph with Car Inspector watching their train at mp CH109.1 & at 13:38 the roll by inspection was still in progress.

N800-28 is currently going through Riverside. Sounds like BNSF 9232 leading, and that they're going to Grand Junction to tie down the train.

It's probably lined for Q326-28. Q326 is descending the hill in St. Joseph currently with CSXT 416 leading.train91 wrote:Green over red at nb Wells. No tains in sight. Also, nb Green at Bravo.

Axle math works out for 2 engines & 149 cars. But, the math also works out for 4 engines & 146 cars. We need a drone out there LOL.justin_gram wrote:Q326-28 has 608 axles, 8832 feet at 91.9 DD. Clear Hilltop 90 at 13:49.Tom49801 wrote:Q326-28 @ 13:42 reported from mp CG95.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates: March, 2020.
Q329-28 @ 13:54 advised Dispatch they are almost done with their walking speed roll by check at mp CH109.1 & has been ok'd to run at 30mph to Grand Rapids. Once reaching Sunfield the Car Inspector will do another 8mph roll by inspection. The cars in question had their brakes stuck (wouldn't release) & the brakes were pried away from the wheels &were cut out. They had changed the plans about dropping off the problem cars into Sunfield.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates: March, 2020.
Ok, 2:20pm, Sat. Must be N800-28 @Grand Junction tied down on siding. Can't make out the engine #'s. No lights and broken at a crossing south of head end. Green over Red light. Assume for Q326. I must have missed the move of N800-27!
Re: CSX Train Location Updates: March, 2020.
Question: Post below says pushers of N800-27, from around noon, were to return to Grand Junction for N800-28. However, might they might be assigned to push Q326? Or does Q326 have needed power today?
