If you are watch this before 12:40pm EDT 3/12, you can rewind to the 00:44am mark to see the eastbound train throwing sparks from the 3rd locomotive on the headend.
This video is from Fostoria, and the train derailed shortly afterwards.

Both mains blocked. Looks like the cars derailed very shortly behind the locos.

The engineer and conductor both didn't notice that in the mirrors?
The 2 people whose personal well being were most at stake.
Anyone know where the CSX defect detectors are in relation to the west of Fostoria area.
There is/was one to the east near TIffin. I wonder if it derailed before or after it.

There is one about 6.5 miles to the west of CP Tiffin at Bascom. Per the news pictures, the worst of the derailment appears to be near CP Tiffin.
There is one to the west of Fostoria. It's about 3 miles east of Galatea.

Defect detector wouldn’t have picked up the sparks. Only measures bearing temperatures.

Sat in Fostoria for about three hours before we found out why the CSX line was so dead. Went over to Tiffin and checked it out. Posted a couple photos in my gallery.

Sounds similar to what happened in the Wellington Ohio derailment last year.
