Ed Byrnes hosted a pilot episode of "Wheel of Fortune" in 1974. Chuck Woolery would eventually be chosen to host the show with hostess Susan Stafford (who is the hostess in the pilot.)

Terry Jones, of the Monty Python comedy troupe, has died at age 77.

To me, Mr. Jones most memorable role was as "Mr. Creosote"! I always have to warn people to NOT eat or drink anything while watching the Mr. Creosote scene in The Meaning of Life. That was probably the Monty Pythons' most disgusting scene! (But funny!)

Mr. Peanut, the dapper Planters icon, is dead at 104

The snack company revealed that Mr. Peanut's untimely demise occurred following a horrible car accident with his friends, actors Wesley Snipes and Matt Walsh. The three men (or two men and a monocle-wearing legume) were taking a road trip through winding, desert canyon roads when an armadillo caused the NUTmobile to swerve off a cliff. The three travelers ended up hanging from a small branch high above a canyon.

As a final act of heroism, Mr. Peanut purposely fell to his death in order to save Snipes and Walsh. He died respectably still wearing his top hat.

He was only 104.

Did you read this on Facebook? He died on 1/15/16.

I often see reports on Facebook of a celebrity dying, and I didn't think that celebrity was still alive, and it turns out it's an old article.
Or you read someone has passed, only to find out it's not true, which is what many people thought when they first heard about Kobe Bryant. Unfortunately, Bryant's death was not a hoax.
