The crossing has gates.

I wonder if the professional driver:

a-had an early breakfast
b-had a late dinner
c-had something extremely important going on with the mobile phone that required full attention to it and not the surroundings
d-didn't notice the high centering warning and the semi-trailer landing gear wasn't full retracted

I'm going to guess c and d.

I can't find a follow-up story about why the driver had their truck on the tracks in front of a train.
Not important to the news media I guess.
