Fatal train crash in Wayne, MI, Nov 23, 2019

Unread post by Garry K »

I'm surprised nobody has posted the information about a 26 year old man hit and killed by a train at Venoy Road south of Michigan Avenue, in Wayne, Michigan. It happened around noon on Saturday, November 23, 2019.

Another very limited report at https://www.clickondetroit.com/news/201 ... ain-crash/.

It was about midnight (11:57PM) and it was #354. Train was 7 hours late into Pontiac resulting in #353 on Sunday coming out of Pontiac and hour and fourteen late. Crossing is well marked and weather was not a factor. Train was probably going about 60 mph due to the slow order at the Wayne diamond. Fox2 News said the train was "barreling when it hit car." I doubt that.

Fox 2 has a known and proven reputation of airing stories before getting the full story, leaving out important details, and not waiting until investigations are complete before airing. Creating sensationalism with innacurate information means Fox 2 is more concerned with ratings and viewership than informing their viewers with accurate news. We can only hope that 4 and 7 are responsible enough to their viewers to strive to air accurate news stories.

I could swear that when I originally posted the links about the train crash of 11/23/19 in Wayne, the stories said the time was "11:57 a.m." But I see the stories were edited after they were originally posted, so I'm guessing that the edits were to change the time from a.m. to p.m.

However, as of 11:47 p.m. on November 27, a story at https://www.hometownlife.com/story/news ... 290377002/ still gives the time of the crash as "about 11:57 a.m."

But it is every "news" outlet that rarely gives the correct news, whether in the initial report or after editing.
