Re: Michigan Rail Business news
While that stinks, it should have little to no effect on rail traffic. CSX serves them maybe 2 or 3 times a month.arty flowers wrote:Graham Packaging will be closing their plant in Holland.

Well it won't be built in either Pontiac or near Durand but it will be built somewhere near Downriver.

It's my understanding that they are not planning for rail service but maybe they'll change their minds

"The facility has 84 shipping and receiving docks, up from 35 at the previous site."
Re: Michigan Rail Business news
"An average of 100 inbound deliveries and 55 outbound deliveries are expected each day." If a 1/3 of that came in by rail that would be 33 less trucks on the road and about 8 railcars.

Potash in Evart (Hersey actually) remains for now a railfans dream.

Plascore will be building a new facility in Zeeland. Their current location has a spur off of CSX and is serviced by Y121, and they get a handful of cars a month. Not sure where this new facility will be in relation to the current one or if it will translate into more rail traffic.

Carbon Green Bio Energy in Woodbury is going to be receiving corn in 25 car blocks from Wisconsin via WSOR-BRC-CSX. Sounds like this should become a fairly regular occurrence, look for the first block sometime this week on Q326.

Re: Michigan Rail Business news
Sooo Carbon Green sits in the midst of Michigan corn country and buys from Wisconsin AND ships it here by rail. I'd love to see the economics in that move....then again it must be worth it or they wouldn't do it eh? Perhaps it's some sort of Wisconsin Super Corn?SD80MAC wrote:Carbon Green Bio Energy in Woodbury is going to be receiving corn in 25 car blocks from Wisconsin via WSOR-BRC-CSX.
