I hope it doesn't have a bad effect on Big Jim.

Best wishes for you. I went down a similar path nearly 20 years ago and survived. Stay positive and you can make it.

Had a "Bard Power Port" (Google it) installed for the chemo.

IV into veins would destroy them.

Six days in and feeling a lot better. Tomorrow, the second dose of Gemzar but no Cisplatin. Should be not so bad.

Further on the Bard Power Port. It is implanted into my chest just below and beside my neck. It is connected
to a tube that loops next to and enters my jugular vein and extends toward my heart. The chemo crap is fed
through the tube and into the heavy flow in the jugular just before the heart. That way it is defused into the
blood system and is diluted before it can destroy the blood vessels.

The next double whammy is on July 9. Four cycles of this.

To clarify my oncology, The pathology meeting was silent on an entry later in the report that read
"pleura invasion..... present." Cancer had broken out of my lung into the pleural lining of the chest.
Pisser.

I tried it back in the third grade. I figured something was not right because every puff was met with several coughs.
That was a decision I am glad to have made back then.

14 days into 3 month process. Blood test results today.

White Blood Cell count (normal 4.2 -10) has moved from 7.4 to 2.3

Hgb (normal 14 - 18) has gone from 14.8 to 13.3

Platelets (140 - 440) gone from 157 to 46 DANGER ALERT

ANC (1.5 - 6.5) from 4.32 to 0.7 DANGER ALERT

This crap destroys from within. I guess that is the point.

Just back from start of second round of chemo.

Blood tests following a week without chemo infusions ALL returned to normal range. Amen.

Over the next two weeks they will fall again, but now I know they will recover.

My big worry now is to avoid getting a bug or being cut while blood is below standard. Two weeks plus exposure each cycle.

I feel a lot better about this now. But, I must be careful.

Thank you for the prayers and well wishes.

WOW. Bone marrow kicked in. Platelets highest ever.

Go marrow!

Now the biggest downer is nausea.

Strange how needed body parts respond.

Is that what retired rail folks drive nowadays?
I was thinking something more along the lines of the F150 Limited.

There is saying that money can't buy happiness. I'd like to be in a position to test that theory. :)

Or like the movie, Can't Buy Me Love. Pretty sure the money helped buy him love. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092718/
