There was a pair of BNSF units that went east past Grandville about an hour ago. I’d be on the lookout for them to go on an outbound train, is it possible Wyoming yard is short on power?

Thanks for the heads up on this on the last two posts. Things just fell into place on a lot of this. When the grain empty went west Friday evening, I knew it had CSX 8395 leading but not see the second unit. With all that transpired at Lansing and Grand Ledge today, combined with the fact Q32711 had CSX 8395-392 tonight, I suspect 392 was the missed second unit and this grain train power went west on Q329 today with 6005 & 8199. Hope to catch the grain load overnight and verify that 337 & 338 were swapped out and will come east with the load.

Also, because 329 had four units and going at track speed, I questioned in my mind if 6005 was in "box car" paint but dismissed it because it had not been that long since I had seen 6005. Now, with what GP30M4216 said earlier, am wondering if it was. Need confirmation of this and a photo would be nice if it was.

I heard a cn crew use the term boxcar a while ago when referring to an engine. Can anyone tell what that means?

P370-11 is currently going through Benton Harbor. Sounds like IDTX 4610 leading.
Q327-11 is currently picking up MOW cars on #1 track in Benton Harbor.

Q327-11 has finished picking up the cars in Benton Harbor and is now headed west through St. Joseph. Sounds like CSXT 8395 leading.
P370-11 with IDTX 4610 is now around Riverside.

Appears 6005 went all the way to Grand Rapids, but did not departed WB on Q32711, my guess they'll use it for locals out of Grand Rapids

N801-11 is currently going through Benton Harbor. Sounds like BNSF 8779 leading.
Sounds like they are meeting E800-10 on the double track between St. Joseph and Riverside.
Also sounds like D801 will tie onto N801 at Grand Jct. as DPU and they'll go to the power plant.

They were referring to the CSX “Boxcar” corporate logo.

I’ll answer both questions, yes 6005 is in Boxcar paint and at the west end of the even yard facing east with an Sd40-2.

Boxcaring power usually means it’s dead in tow and the only air lines connected are the train lines. The main res, actuate and independent brake lines are not hooked up to the other engines and is virtually a big boxcar with a lot more weight and drag. There is a little more that goes into it but that’s the basics.

328 just finished their work in Lansing and gave up the blocks. Lights all the way. Crew said they're not sure if they're going to make it up Anne pere due to lack of power. I didn't hear them give a mark up. 0525

Q32912 by Howell at 08:38 with CSX 5294+152 and 57 cars. Earlier, Q32812 went east at 06:30 with CSX 8116-434 and 121 cars. Rear 55 were stone empties. Not that it means much, but the rear of the train was still going by at track speed so assume they had no problem making it up Ann Pere hill. And, did see the Grand Ledge grain empty go east just prior to midnight as G799 with CSX 337-388 so Q329 did make a major swap in power at Lansing yesterday. Thanks for the confirmation that 6005 is fresh "boxcar" paint.

Huh, have never heard that one before, usually just dead in tow. Thanks Steven!
