IORY Michigan Operations

While improving the Michigan Wiki page on the Indiana and Ohio Railroad, I discovered that there is not much information on their operations in Michigan.
Do they lease or have trackage rights on the trackage from Diann to Flat Rock?

Any other interesting tidbits would be appreciated!
Including suggestions for the Michigan Wiki IORY page (the railroad is G&W's largest, so should we include the whole system, locomotive roster, etc).
That would be a monster project.

My understanding is they own the tracks from Diann into Ohio and have trackage rights over over the Diann to Flat Rock section. CN still runs 1 train each direction from Flat Rock to Diann and onto Toledo via the AA IIRC, which is why they have retained ownership in my opinion. What I'm not sure of is the ownership of the diamond at Diann and as such where the ownership changes between CN and IORY.

I do wonder if CN has any access to the interchange tracks in Diann as well, not that I see any reason for them to interchange with the AA like they used to as late as the 1980's.

IORY ownership begins and ends at DIANN and CN owns the rest of the way to Flat Rock with IORY trackage rights in mind yes correct. Two sidings had to be ripped up and straight railed in order for this PTC thing to take place. Yes much more traffic ran through here during the DT&I and GT days with NS and CN having occasional trackage rights before the Conrail takeover but they would get on the Annie to get to Toledo. These days theres a lot less trains and as we all know the haulage/bridge trains made no money. GT tried to kill the line and almost succeeded in doing so because they left the trackage In terribe shape. There is still frequent interchange with the Annie and theres been a lot of grain traffic being exchanged to CN at Flat Rock to take to Quebec.

Back and forth between Toledo and DIANN....Its the 585 that runs to Alexis and gets on the NS as 184, and comes back as 353 the same way to DIANN as 585 and terminates at Flat Rock

Regarding interchange locations, if I recall correctly, doesn't IORY occasionally interchange with ADBF at Riga, with cars sometimes stored on the siding at Petersburg?

And CN does not interchange with AA at DIANN, right? Only in Toledo (with freight moved between Lang Yard and Ottawa Yard), right?

If by “frequent” you mean “maybe 2-3 times a month” then sure.
and theres been a lot of grain traffic being exchanged to CN at Flat Rock to take to Quebec.
If by “a lot” you mean roughly 100 loads in the last 2+ years, then sure.

It is 585 both ways and has been for some time. Run as a turn out of Flat Rock.

IORY to ADBF interchange is done at Riga. ADBF to IORY interchange is done at Petersburg.

CN has absolutely no reason to interchange with the AA at Diann.

Back in 1997 and 1998 used to spend alot of time in Carleton and Flat Rock much busier back then at least three I&O trains each way a day.

Two Detroit-Cinncy trains each way and one Detroit-Lima Turn per day. One Cinncy train was mostly Ford traffic and the other GM. The GM traffic stopped around 2006 and Ford around 2011.

I think a local is stationed at Delta, OH and works Delta area industries daily with runs to Flat Rock about 3x per week. A late night turn operates from Lima to Delta and back around 3x per week.

The Detroit-Cinncy trains were actually Flat Rock to Cinncy.
