Elsa Patton, ‘Real Housewives of Miami’ fixture, dead at 84. Don't know this lady and have never watched the show. I don't know if this was her intended "look" or if her surgery went bad :?

Doris Day has passed away at age 97. For those young(er) folks, she was an actress that made "wholesome" family films. As it says in the Detroit News obituary, "she stood for a time of innocence and G-rated love."

He was a really funny guy. Watched the Mary Tyler Moore show every week. He used to crack her and Harvey Korman up.

Except he was a semi-regular on The Carol Burnett Show. ;) He was a guest most of the time, and eventually became one of the regulars on the show.

So I loved his character, "Dorf". Dorf on Golf being a favorite title of our family as my dad was an avid golfer. He made a couple of other Dorf programs too that I remember watching on VHS tapes as a youth. Then there was the short lived program, Tim Conway's Funny America. I remember one of the bits was that Tim Conway stood on a corner and convinced people they had to drag a metal chain across the intersection while they crossed a road to electrically ground themselves out or they would be electrocuted by a curious electric field that was only present at that particular intersection.

Reruns of the old Carol Burnett show (with Tim Conway, Harvey Korman, and Vicki Lawrence) are still WAY funnier than any of the so-called comedies of today's television world. Who of us (or a certain age) doesn't remember Conway as Ensign Parker in McHale's Navy?

Niki Lauda, former Formula One racing three-time champion, has passed away at age 70.

https://news.sky.com/story/formula-1-le ... 0-11725108

Lauda was my racing hero. In 1976, he was almost burned alive in a fiery wreck, and still almost won the championship that year. The racing movie "Rush" documents Lauda's battles with James Hunt during that 1976 season very well. Probably most people would have never got back into a race car after getting burned like Lauda.

I also race the #8 Marlboro McLaren (a car that Lauda won a championship with) in an auto-racing boardgame, "Championship Formula Racing," that we race in the Detroit area. Our CFR-Detroit home page is at http://michigumbo.com/cfr/.
