CN Michigan Customers

Unread post by NS3322 »

I noticed there were no customer lists for CN in the Wiki, so I am working on lists just for Michigan subdivisions. (I may do Indiana in the future, but that is it).
I currently have completed lists for the South Bend, Flint, and Kalamazoo (Branch) Subdivisions.
How did I do?

Does the elevator in Imlay City not ship by rail anymore?

The Vlasic plant's siding is still in place, but the switch has been gone for years.

East of Imlay City, the Champion plant on Graham Road was a customer at one time and the remnants of their siding can still be seen on Google Maps.

Star of the West (I think) had a transload site on the east side of Belsay Road, east of Flint. I think someone else had also used it, but I don't know if it's active at this point.

Otherwise, at least this side of Flint, you seem to have nailed it. There's really not a whole lot of local traffic on this and of the Flint Sub

Lapeer Industrial receives a couple plastic pellet cars every week, an occasional tank car and an infrequent carload of steel.

Noticed you included railroad interchanges on your list. There is one interchange on the CN South Bend Subdivision, from the Kalamazoo Branch to the SBS. The SBS local (L521 I think) will pick up and drop off cars from L549 at Pavilion.

Star of the West moved their transload operations to LSRC at Saginaw Yard.

I did not include this interchange as a customer as it is part of the same railroad.

South Bend Sub actually starts at Emmett St in Battle Creek. Anything west of there is South Bend sub. The yard itself is technically on the Flint Sub

This customer recently added yard tracks and a longer siding to unload 25 car blocks of Canadian canola meal, flaxseed, oats and potash.
