NS Scale Test car on the GRE

Unread post by kd_1014 »

Just was down at Ann St. today and I noticed an NS Scale Test car sitting in the back of track 3 of the GRE yard. Does anyone know why it's there? Are they doing testing on the line or something?

Scale test cars are used to calibrate/certify weigh scales. Does the GRE have a railcar weigh scale?

Goes to Amway. They have a scale they calibrate every so often.

Last time I saw that car was about 4 years ago. Not sure how often its calibrated but yeah they do bring it in every so often like you said.

Did it go out today? I might go later tonight and take pictures of it if it's still there.

Should be west of Alpine. GDLK stuffed the GRE yard at 5am this morning. GRE is still working on the interchange track today.

It's been up and down the Elk a few times. It's a small one.
