Amtrak/ Norfolk Southern ITCS Pool
Stemming off of the recent ITCS discussion, I wanted to make a topic to keep track of the units that are now in the ITCS Pool. This includes Amtrak P42s as well as if any Norfolk Southern units have ITCS with it for AML operations. If anyone has additions, corrections, OOS units, or anything on what NS has for ITCS operations please feel free to add them!

On the NS side, is it still just a small group of GP40-2s and GP60s?

Re: Amtrak/ Norfolk Southern ITCS Pool
You can add the 62 and 64 for the Amtrak engines
I believe the NS engines are (were) the 3065, 3066, 3067, 3068, 3069 (GP40-2's) and 7146, 7147, 7148, 7149, 7150 (GP60's)

Do we know which Chargers will be in the pool? Presumably it's all the ones that were being stored at Pueblo.

4626 and 4630 presumably, since they came over from Pueblo.PerRock wrote:Do we know which Chargers will be in the pool? Presumably it's all the ones that were being stored at Pueblo.

The P42 that handled train #365 into Battle Creek on April 12 was #64. The locomotive failed there (don't know what happened) and train #353 had to tow it into Chicago.

Re: Amtrak/ Norfolk Southern ITCS Pool
365 had ITCS box issues.....non functioning ITCS in leading engines unable to lead west of Kalamazoo.
Re: Amtrak/ Norfolk Southern ITCS Pool
#64 leading, and #62 trailing on today's 365 (Blue Water).
Appears #62 is not on the list.

Re: Amtrak/ Norfolk Southern ITCS Pool
Added 62 and 64.. also added 66 which did have the ILL ITCS but was wrecked.

Re: Amtrak/ Norfolk Southern ITCS Pool
Here’s a question: why the sudden influx of IL P42s? If it’s supposed to be for the Charger release why not just keep the MI P42s until the Chargers were ready? Or were our original ones in such bad shape that they had to be taken OOS immediately?

The Ill. P42's have the updated ITCS in them. The Mich Line P42's that have been here should be gone by now.

Re: Amtrak/ Norfolk Southern ITCS Pool
That would explain why the 34 went west on the Southwest Chief a couple of day ago.GTW wrote:The Ill. P42's have the updated ITCS in them. The Mich Line P42's that have been here should be gone by now.
Plus the track in Illinois that needed them is currently suspended/in limbo/may never be turned on again.
Re: Amtrak/ Norfolk Southern ITCS Pool
Oh, that explains everything now. I will be on the lookout for the "new" P42's .GTW wrote:The Ill. P42's have the updated ITCS in them. The Mich Line P42's that have been here should be gone by now.

What about the handful of GP38-2s?
