NYS&W SD-60's

Unread post by afleetcommand »

So what happens to Locomotives like those two that went off the rails in Deposit NY, NYS&W 3800 and 3806? Will they be brought back to life or are they damaged to the point they are scrap. And if scrapped does a company like NYS&W retire those numbers (un lucky) or buy new (used) SD-60's to replace them repainted in their original numbers? Wonder if those smaller rail roads have the resources at time to actually maintain the tracks! Much less afford to up grade to newer options. I for one would rather they keep the older ones with character in service. Of course that's because the optics are more important to a "fan" the the mechanics and metrics of a business! Wish some railroad would retrofit E8's with 12-710's!

Seeing more "blue" leases on the NYSW. I heard today from someone who would know that the ones they lose, even though they were in "Yellow Jacket" paint were also leased. Is that true? If so what is the true roster for the NYS&W
