"Terrible" Ted Lindsay, one of the greatest all-time Detroit Red Wings players, has passed away at age 93.

https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sport ... 052985002/

Ted Lindsay was truly a bad-ass! I like that the linked story at the Detroit News mentions when Lindsay got a death threat before a playoff game in Toronto, that Lindsay went out on the ice holding his hockey stick like a machine gun and "shot" it at the fans in the stands. Excellent!

I have had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Lindsay in person in his later years, and he still had that intense stare going for him. God bless his soul.

GRHC - you know every night I can imagine he is in front of his computer screen sitting in his underwear swearing profusely and drinking Blatz beer combing the RailRoadFan website for grammatical errors.

Dick Dale, King of Surf Guitar, ‘Miserlou’ composer, dies at 81

https://www.detroitnews.com/story/obitu ... /39218067/
Dick Dale, whose pounding, blaringly loud power-chord instrumentals on songs like “Miserlou” and “Let’s Go Trippin’” earned him the title King of the Surf Guitar, has died at age 81.
[...]
Dale liked to say it was he and not the Beach Boys who invented surf music – and some critics have said he was right.

An avid surfer, Dale started building a devoted Los Angeles fan base in the late 1950s with repeated appearances at Newport Beach’s old Rendezvous Ballroom. He played “Miserlou,” “The Wedge,” “Night Rider” and other compositions at wall-rattling volume on a custom-made Fender Stratocaster guitar.
