GRE Operations

Unread post by kd_1014 »

Can someone familiarize me with the GRE railroad operations? I've tried catching them several times at several locations but have never had luck, nor do I have the scanner frequencies. By now, I've had to resort to hearing the horns to find out when they run!

They don’t really have a set schedule, but seem to pretty reliably run at least on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. They get moving any time between 7 and 11 am depending on wether the crew comes from Muskegon or Alma.

It used to be MWF pretty regularly. Lately it's more dependent on when GDLK brings Kings north with the sand transload cars. Signal questions: They need to get an EB green to get out of their engine house. I don't know how much they use the radio to contact the CSX dispatcher in JAX

Watch the Michigan Shortlines Train Location Updates thread. The Leonard St Tower Operator often posts when they're headed east over Leonard/Plainfield.

I believe most of it is by phone now
According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The bee, of course, flies anyway because bees don't care what humans think is impossible.
