Sorry AARR, I just saw your question. As far as I've been able to find out, these are being used as buffer cars. No one I've talked to around here seems to think they're going to/from a shipper, but with all the big black tank cars that we see, they probably need to use something as a buffer.

V65525, CSX 3310+5386 arrived at Williamston at 10:15 to run around its train and take it back to Webberville for spotting. 90 cars, all old rusty junkers from previous railroads.

Earlier, Q32827 went east by Howell at 06:37 with CSX 169 and only 14 cars. Nothing short of amazing, this unit, on Q326 at Bangor at 11:17pm, and still getting pushers, would be in Howell only seven hours later. Q32927 went west at 08:40 with CSX #2 and 37 cars. Picking up seven more at Lansing.
