With a bit of detective work you should be able to locate this spot. This was shot from a public roadway. ....you haven't seen any of these on the GDLK.

Wichita on the Kansas and Oklahoma. There was even a unit in Penn Central paint behind everything else.DaveO wrote:Wichita.PatAzo wrote:WAMX power with one well used GP35.

It was not on the DT&I. The location boasted two depot's in it's day. Today you would drive past without realizing anything had been there.AARR wrote:Somewhere on DT&I's Dearborn Branch?

Well that is top running third rail which eliminated my first guess of the Detroit River Tunnels. Plus it looks kind of too ruralPatAzo wrote:It was not on the DT&I. The Michigan United Railways did use top running third rail. But where? TBD.

Monteith Junction south of Martin. This depot was just north of 114th Ave on the interurban line from Kalamazoo to G.R. Behind the photographer the interurban from Battle Creek to Allegan crossed. About 1/4 mile east was a depot where the Allegan-Battle Creek line crossed the GR&I.DaveO wrote:Monteith Junction
Here is a nice web page following the interurban line. Scroll on down and there is a picture of the depot on the GR&I and a couple maps.

Yes, indeed, it's looking north from Cousino Road in LaSalle Township, Monroe County. Final run of the remaining passenger trains on the former Conrail Detroit Lines was made on April 3, 1995 when Amtrak trains 352 and 353 between Detroit and Toledo was rerouted to operate between Detroit and Pontiac. Passenger service on the ex D&TSL RR was discontinued many years ago.

Re: Where Is It?
It's not a big deal but its Detroit & Toledo Shore Line (D&TSL) or often stenciled D&TS

Re: Where Is It?
No poles on the right look like Consumers...Monroe is served by Detroit Edison. Their poles are slightly different.
Here's an example by the abandoned Trenton Plant in Trenton, MI.
I've only ever seen poles like these in and around Detroit, west to Ann Arbor, south to Monroe.

Yes, it's E. 14th Street looking east towards Cass Avenue and the west shore of Boardman Lake in Traverse City, Grand Traverse County, First crossing in the foreground is the wsouth leg of the wye. The far crossing in the background was once the main track of the former C&O Railway between Grand Rapids and Petoskey. Final run of the remaining former C&O railway passenger trains 25/26 between GR and Traverse City, was made on October 29, 1966.
