This is interesting for a few reasons:

1) The Port of Halifax has significant room for expansion, unlike either Montreal or Quebec City. Yes, Quebec means a shorter haul by rail than Nova Scotia, but CN doesn't have to share any of the spoils with CP.

2) The Moterm facility has underwent a significant reconfiguration and expansion. It was operating near capacity prior to the redesign. It is capable of handling significantly more traffic now. Moterm is also a shorter truck haul than Harvey to any point in Ohio, most points in Michigan, and also to Fort Wayne. It would be cool to see more containers on the Mt Clemens sub, and the Holly from Milwaukee Junction to Moterm.

3) CN's path from Halifax to Northwest Indiana is far less congested and far more capable of adding capacity if needed, than CSX or NS have from places such as Elizabethtown or Baltimore. Container traffic is only going to continue to grow. Who is going to get it?
