KC8RBK, do you know what locomotive is pulling the "Geometry Car?"Where is it headed?
I didnt catch the engine number when it went by. They weren't using the whistle by here so I had no warning it was coming. I believe it's currently over by Bancroft following that other train.
KC8RBK, I think this is the train with RDC "Geometry Car" #1501 that just traversed the Mt. Clemens Sub. tonight (read below)!!!!

PTC test train southbound past BECK (Utica Road, Fraser) on the Mt. Clemens sub. 17:16.
Brian F, was that you in the Belden Brick® parking lot who pulled in just before this came by? I was on the bicycle on the other side of the trax and photographed it!!!!
It had "CN" painted GTW GP38-2 #5852!!!! Does anyone know why they need a locomotive on this "Self Propelled" BUDD® RDC? YESS!!!! I caught it!!!!

Last night around 10 pm a SB went past MP 22.5 that looked like an all autoracks 280, probably the one reported earlier. It was followed shortly afterwards by what I presume was 502. There didn't appear to be a 515 or 513 on the Holly yesterday.
At 9:39 am Train 515 SB past MP 22.5 with 4916 today.
In Flint this morning there were 4912 and 5847 out in front of the Yard Office, both in blue. There was also hundreds (or so it appeared) empty bulkhead flats I presumed stored there as well as many autoracks and covered hoppers that may also have been in storage. Pontiac Yard also has a ton of bulkhead flats stored.
Does anyone know why they need a locomotive on this "Self Propelled" BUDD® RDC
It doesnt have PTC installed on it yet.
Word from a CN crew member is that it is not capable of "propelling" itself at the moment, thus the locomotive. He also said that it was not testing PTC, but track geometry - what it was rebuilt to do. I won't argue with CN, so I'll take his word for it - but who knows. He also mentioned that he didn't think there would be any PTC testing on the MTC sub until after the first of the year...
What looked to be an Amtrak was eastbound on CN leaving Battle Creek around 02:30. Don't see it on Amtrak's map, maybe an equipment move or test train of some kind?
