Re: CN Updates: August 2018
I thought heard a southbound roll through town not too long after catching 28 this morning but never did figure out what it was.Manistique wrote:That 280 Jim reported last night went south from Pontiac shortly after his report. That was the second 280 yesterday.
There was a SB this morning around 5:15 am past MP 22.5. Maybe another 116?

M385 by Mount Clemens depot at 21:15. 3 units, 90 cars. Kicked up a breeze that felt downright refreshing on an otherwise stifling night.

Re: CN Updates: August 2018
I caught 391 at Airport Rd. at 11:34 PM CN 8922 solo.
While I drove back to the house, I had the Durand scanner feed going on my phone and heard what should be 116 clear the detector MP 59.9 at 11:37 PM. was 11,395 feet long, 552 axles. CN 8889 Leading.
Edit to add:
391 cleared the detector MP 59.9 at 12:31 AM
Also, I missed catching 116 here in Waterford but they did call the signal at CP West Pontiac at12:32 AM.

Lite GP9r 4626 just drifted NB past MP 22.5 at 1:15 am. Maybe this was returning Train 950 with new power today?

Was this Q130 a SB train? I'm guessing it was because Q131 is a NB intermodal train on the Mount Clemens Sub, and Q130 sounds like its counterpart.Man o' War wrote:Q130 by North Mount at 00:15. CN/CN, 10,000'+ .

Re: CN Updates: August 2018
Northbound, and was identified as Q130 by CN Desk 8 and a trackside maintainer. The SB counterpart operates as Q131 according to the railroad, although I've heard on more than one occasion a crew misidentifying a symbol. General rule of thumb on CN (with a sprinkling of anomalies), even symbols NB and EB, odds SB and WB. The Q trains on the MTC sub from their inception in 1990 and forward (Q140/Q141, Q142/Q143 and Q144/Q145, have all operated in this manner, so it's my best guess that 130/131 do this as well - but it's not beyond the railroad to try and confuse railfans!blueheron13 wrote:Was this Q130 a SB train?
