Re: Mich. Shortline Location Updates-August
Looks like around 10-12 hopper and one tank on the front at Ann Street in GR. GRE will likely head east tomorrow. A lot of hoppers and ties around Lowell.

Re: Mich. Shortline Location Updates-August
LSRC #326 departed Alpena just before 5 last night with 32 stone loads and 6 cement loads
LSRC #327 arrived in Alpena around 7:30 this morning with 65 stone empties
It’s worth noting that they’ve recently acquired a bunch of former NS shortie stone hoppers and have online a bunch of leased ex-UP 3-Bay hoppers for stone movements, along with the ex-WRRC fleet they’ve been using the last few years. Flyash continues to move as well, in the same old hopper fleet but now relettered for AEX. Power is still the same standard duo of GP40-2s on most trains. You’re welcome in advance, Mr Don Simon

From the CSX TL thread: MS Z627 is just north of West Olive. They are going to tie their train down just north of the west olive switch. They will get back to their train and take it down to Waverly in Holland tomorrow morning.

I like this information too, thanks Saturn
Is there any box car or tank car traffic out of Alpena?

LSRC 327 is just pulling into the yard in Alpena now with 801 leading, 2 loaded Flyash, 3 tanks, and 7 cement with the second unit, the 1164, on the rear for some reason.

Re: Mich. Shortline Location Updates-August
There were 6 hoppers left in the pass in Ada yesterday while GRE went out to Lowell and back, which they must've picked up on their westbound trip. Assuming those 6 cars were all pulls from Amway, that is the most cars I've seen come out of there at one time in a very long time.Patriot wrote:GRE - WB Leonard at 2:45 with 16 CHs, several of which were non-King.

Some may have been Precision Poly cars. I was too occupied with the centerbeam on the end. The GRE has had a few "stored" in the yard for them on and off, more than in past years.

I was in Mason Mi today and the J&L train was sitting in the yard southbound with units 1751 and 1758 and at least 10 empty coil steel cars, He may have had more but my sight line ended at 10.

Re: Mich. Shortline Location Updates-August
10:10hrs: NB Jackson &Lansing at MA in Lansing with just the #1758 and a single coil car.
A little before noon, they were pulling back into Ensel Yard from the westside with a pair of GTW coil cars. After waiting for D708 to get out if the way, they also picked up a CSX coil and returned south at MA with the three coils around 12:30. Does Alro Steel get any coils or only plate? I assume the GTW coils were from the CN interchange. Neat to see this former C&O GP9 back on home rails on this route!

GRE returned WB to GR, late, around 5:00pm. looked like around 20 hoppers and one tank on the end. Probably the last 2 hoppers were also from AMWAY.
